Contest Guidelines for the 24th PMO
Contestants in the Qualifying Stage can refer to the contestant guidelines written specifically for them.
Other individuals who need to know other details such as the registration procedure and fee, certificates of participation, and awards can refer to the detailed general guidelines.
Technical Requirements

Since the competition is online, contestants need to setup the technical tools needed to participate in the PMO from their respective homes. These are the basic technical requirements.

Internet

A reliable internet connection during the competition (LAN, Wi-Fi, pocket Wi-Fi, mobile data)
- We highly recommend using LAN for a stable internet connection.
- Pocket Wi-Fi devices or mobile data can also be prepared for back up.

Email

An e-mail address for important correspondence.
- It is the responsibility of each contestant to check his/her inbox (and perhaps the spam folder).
- Inform the school coordinator if an expected email has not yet been received.

Audio-Video Capability

A computer/laptop with decent video and audio capability.
- Contestants will be monitored by a proctor and the session will be recorded. The specific platform needed - Zoom, Google Meet, or MS Teams - can be viewed here.
- Have your laptop fully charged in case of a power interruption.
- We strongly discourage the use of a device with a small screen to access the questions from the Contestant Portal. No special consideration will be given if a contestant misinterprets a problem or gets a problem detail wrong because the displayed problem statement or figure is distorted.

We recognize that not everyone has reliable internet access at home. Some may not even have any access at all. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate a student in the PMO this year if he will be unable to go online on the day of the competition. This is a limitation forced on us by the pandemic. We deeply regret that some students might be unable to participate because of this, even if they would have been selected by their school based on academic performance alone. We are hoping for the understanding of these students and their schools that there is a need to enforce measures that will help maintain the integrity of the competition. We will post the Qualifying Stage questions after the competition and hope you will find the problems challenging.
