The IMO is the world championship mathematics competition for high school students. It is the oldest and most prominent among the international science olympiads. This year, 589 students from 104 countries and territories sat down individually to solve six challenging and original problems for a total of 9 hours spread over the two official days of the competition. This year’s competition also witnessed some record-breaking events: First with the China team topping this year’s competition with all her 6 students getting perfect scores. This is only the second time in the IMO’s history to have a whole team garnering perfect scores, the first was with the United States team accomplishing the same feat in 1994; Second is this year’s cut-off score for a bronze medal, which is 23 points, the highest in more than 40 years.

The five highest performing countries include China, South Korea, the United States, Vietnam, and Romania. The Philippines ranked 55th in the company of Denmark, Georgia (T53), and Austria (56). This year’s complete results can be accessed in https://www.imo-official.org/year_country_r.aspx?year=2022.
